Dear Youth and Parents,
I’m excited that it is a new year, and excited to share with you all that we have in store for our youth ministry to start off 2013. To start off, I would like to recap what GVUMC’s youth ministry is all about.
Our Purpose: To transform our youth from believers to disciples.
Our Vision: To foster the faith of our youth by:
-- Teaching them Biblical truth and leading them into a real relationship with Jesus Christ
-- Engaging them in Christian fellowship at the Church, District and Conference level
-- Integrating them into the love and leadership of the congregation
-- Helping them reach out to the needs of their community, nation and the world
Wednesday Night Teens (545-730pm for all 6th-12th graders in Fellowship Hall)
Starting January 9th, we will begin an 8 session study on the Armor of God. During this study, we will learn that being a Christian isn’t always easy, but not to worry because God has our back. He has equipped us with the right tools, we just have to pick them up and use them. Remember to bring $2 for a pizza dinner. Your WNT adult leaders are: Cyndi Greenleaf, Chris Moshman, Joe Kern and Jayna Stevenson.
Sunday School classes (945am in Fellowship Hall)
High School (Teachers: Lisa Khuraibet & Daniel Stevenson)
Our High School class is doing a six book study by author Doug Fields called Experiencing Christ Together. This study presents the person and work of Jesus through five biblical purposes: fellowship, discipleship, service, evangelism, and worship. This series will take you through beginning in Jesus, Connecting in Jesus, Growing in Jesus, Serving in Jesus, Sharing in Jesus and Surrendering to Jesus.
Middle School (Teachers: Beth Kennedy & Doug Reynolds)
Our Middle School class will be tackling the tough questions they have about their relationship with God, other and themselves through the Grapple Curriculum. Through this curriculum, they will dig into the real-life issues they are dealing with every day - and find out what the Bible has to say about these issues.
January 19-21 is Winter Camp at Potosi Pines for all 6th-12th graders.
Do you ever feel like your prayers are bouncing off the ceiling? Do you ever worry that you are not praying right? Does it sometimes seem dull and pointless? We are going to discover how to open ourselves to God in new ways that will help us to better connect with Him. Along with all that we will have the usual camp fun: games, dancing, music, great food, silly times, skits, new and old friends, maybe even snow!! This will be a great chance to get away to a beautiful place of laughter, fun and learning.
